Report: Zach Hyman not signing with Panthers

According to Craig Custance, the Senior NHL writer for ESPN, the Panthers’ 2010 5th-round draft pick, Zach Hyman, has notified the team that he will not be signing a contract with them.

The Toronto-native just completed his senior year at the University of Michigan where he had a breakout season, totaling 54 points in 37 games after only producing 35 points in 114 games over his past three seasons. Hyman was a Hobey Baker finalist, was selected to the first team of the All-American West Team, and led the Big-Ten in scoring.

It’s likely that the Panthers will trade him prior to the August 16th deadline which requires teams to sign their players that are exiting college or lose them to free-agency.
