This past season was not the best for Scottie Upshall. He scored only 8 goals and had just 7 assists, for a less-than-satisfactory 15 points in 63 games. Yet, one thing that Upshall did accomplish was that he had one of the best Panthers goals of the season. Click the link below to check out this week’s Throwback Thursday feature.

On October 30, 2014, the Panthers were playing the Arizona Coyotes. The game was tied 1-1 midway through the third period. Scottie Upshall was serving a charging penalty against Michael Stone and the Coyotes were getting a couple of good scoring chances in. As the penalty was coming to an end, Tomas Kopecky found the puck through the traffic and passed it to Upshall, who had just come out of the penalty box. Scottie Upshall then went on to fake out Mike Smith and he scored a beautiful goal on the breakaway. This goal gave the Panthers the 2-1 lead, and became the game-winning goal. For this goal, Scottie Upshall was awarded the second star of the game (the 1st was Luongo, who maintained an impressive .970 save percentage throughout the game).
