After signing three free agents several hours ago, the Panthers have signed defenseman Cameron Gaunce to a one-year, two-way contract and defenseman Brent Regner to a two-year, two-way deal, further strengthening the Panthers’ depth chart.
“The additions of Gaunce and Regner help to further strengthen our organization’s blueline. Gaunce is a strong, hardworking, physical defenseman and Regner is a responsible, mobile two-way defenseman who can play both on the power play and penalty kill.” – GM Dale Tallon
Cameron Gaunce, 25, is the older brother of Brendan Gaunce, a first-round draft-choice of the Vancouver Canucks in 2012, and he is coming off a season during which he tallied 14 points in 73 games for the Texas Stars. Gaunce was a member of the 2013-14 Calder Cup champion Texas Stars and is a former 2nd round draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche.
Brent Regner, 26, lead the Chicago Wolves defensemen in scoring last season with 29 points in 71 games and in +/- with a +21 rating. He added 2 points in 3 playoff games and also served as the team’s captain. Regner was originally drafted in the 5th round of the 2008 Draft by the Blue Jackets.
