The Panthers announced today that they’ve agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with forward Greg McKegg. McKegg was acquired last month in a deal that sent pending UFA Zach Hyman and a 2017 seventh-round draft pick to Toronto.
McKegg, 23, is coming off a season during which he scored a career-high 22 goals in 62 games with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. This next season will be his fourth in the AHL and he will be a viable call-up option for Dale Tallon should an injury arise. The Panthers’ AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates, are beginning to put together a competitive team and will look to build on both the team’s recent successes as well as those of the San Anonio Rampage, the Panthers’ former AHL affiliate.
