The Panthers have announced several changes to their hockey operations staff this afternoon, including the promotion of Scott Luce, the former Director of Scouting, to the Director of Player Personnel position.
Luce has served as the Panthers’ Director of Scouting for the past five years and has been one of the main individuals behind the drafting of players such as Lawson Crouse, Aaron Ekblad, Aleksander Barkov, Nick Bjugstad, and Jonathan Huberdeau, among others.
“Scott has done a tremendous job leading and preparing our scouting staff for the last several seasons. He possesses a wealth of hockey knowledge and is most deserving of this promotion. He will continue to oversee our scouting staff and will work closely with Director of Hockey Operations Mike Dixon and Portland Pirates General Manager Eric Joyce on all day-to-day hockey operations matters.” – GM Dale Tallon
Some other changes made include that of naming Billy Ryan to the position of amateur scout, Pierre Groulx has been named the goalie development coach and scout under Robb Tallas, Dakota King was named Equipment Assistant, Steve Squier was named Massage Therapist, and Stiles Burr was named the video/travel coordinator of the Portland Pirates.
Also, the team confirmed that assistant coach Mark Morris was hired by the Carolina Hurricanes AHL affiliate, and they also announced that they’ve not renewed the contract of Brian Skrudland who acted as the team’s Director of Player Development.
