Panthers invite David Booth to training camp

The Panthers announced late this afternoon that they’ve invited David Booth to training camp on a PTO (professional try-out). Booth last played for the Panthers at the beginning of the 2011-12 season before being traded 6 games into the season to the Canucks.

David Booth is the last player to score 30 goals in a season for the Panthers which he did during the 2008-09 season. His performance quickly dropped after suffering a series of concussions the following season after a check to head by Mike Richards and another hit 5 months later by Jaroslav Spacek. He has not scored more than 29 points since the 2010-11 season, however he has been somewhat effective in a bottom-6 role the past few years.

The Panthers AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates, invited Rob Schremp to their training camp on a PTO as well.

Training camp begins next Friday, September 18th, at the BB&T Center, however the Panthers have yet to release more details than that.
