Between the Lines

It is finally a hockey night in South Florida once again! The Panthers have returned home from their split-squad doubleheader against the Nashville Predators to take on the Dallas Stars. If you missed the Panthers’ first two preseason games, you can check out our recap of game 1 here and game 2 here. The Panthers dropped game 1 to the Predators by a score of 5-2 and won game 2 in 3-on-3 overtime on a goal by defenseman Mike Matheson.

The Panthers and Stars faced off twice last year during the preseason, and the Panthers lost 4-3 and 5-4 in the first and second games respectively. Tonight’s game will be the first of the preseason for the Stars, however they have already competed amongst themselves twice in two intra-squad scrimmages and theyhad another one yesterday.

The Stars look a bit different compared to last season after acquiring Patrick Sharp and Johnny Oduya from the Blackhawks as well as goaltender Antti Niemi who they signed after trading for his negotiation rights. You can read about the Panthers’ off-season in our season preview here. For them, it’ll be their first game back at the BB&T Center since defeating the New Jersey Devils in the final game of the 2014-15 season on April 11th.

The Cats on the Prowl team will be at tonight’s, so stay tuned to the site and our Twitter account for the latest updates.
