Overall, it’s been a quiet week for the Panthers’ prospects. Jayce Hawryluk, Lawson Crouse, and Samuel Montembeault all went to join Team Canada for the 2015 World Junior Championships while Juho Lammikko joined Team Finland. Montembeault wasn’t initially invited to Team Canada, however MacKenzie Blackwood was suspended 8 games for a slash in the OHL and it’ll carry over for 2 World Junior games forcing Canada to bring another goalie on board. Montembeault recorded a shutout for Canada in a scrimmage against the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) all-star team on Sunday, and Crouse recorded 2 assists for the Kingston Frontenacs on 12/9 before leaving for Team Canada. Denis Malgin, the Panthers’ 2015 4th-round pick, will be representing Switzerland in the World Juniors tournament as well. Thomas Schemitsch, the Panthers 2015 3rd-round pick, tallied a goal and an assist for the Owen Sound Attack on 12/13.
