Between the Lines

The Panthers have arrived home after going 3-1 on their 4-game road trip and they’ll face the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday afternoon after earning their third straight win on Friday. Willie Mitchell and Reilly Smith each recorded a goal and Roberto Luongo posted a shutout as the Panthers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 2-0. Smith is currently on a 4-game goal streak, Jussi Jokinen has 5 points in his last 5 games, and Jonathan Huberdeau has 4 points in his last 5 games. The Panthers have 3 wins in their last 5 meetings with the Canucks, although they lost the last one which was January 19th at home by a score of 2-1. Forward Nick Bjugstad who has missed 10 games and has not practiced with the team in 3 weeks remains sidelined “indefinitely” with migraines.

The Canucks are coming off a 7-round shootout win against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday. Jared McCann, Sven Baertschi, and Radim Vrbata all scored in regulation while Linden Vey scored the shootout winner in the 7th round.
