The Panthers announced today that Nick Bjugstad has been activated from the injured reserve and will return to the Panthers’ lineup after missing the entire month of December and the first game of 2016 with recurring migraines.

With the Bjugstad back in the lineup, the Panthers were forced to do a little bit of line-juggling when it comes to the bottom-6. Bjugstad will center Brandon Pirri and Logan Shaw on the 3rd line, while Derek MacKenzie will center Corban Knight and Quinton Howden on the 4th line. That leaves Connor Brickley and Shawn Thornton as scratches for at least Sunday’s game against the Wild. It’s been said that Brickley could be the odd man out and may be sent back to the Portland Pirates of the AHL.

For the Panthers, it’s nice to finally have depth and several viable options when it comes to configuring the lineup; any of the guys above can step right in and not look out of place.

The Panthers will face the Minnesota Wild today at 6:00 PM at the BB&T Center.
