Between the Lines

The Panthers will face the Montreal Canadiens for the final time this season and will go for the season sweep on Tuesday in the second game of a back-to-back. Florida is coming off a 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday night, a game which saw Rocco Grimaldi tally 2 consecutive goals, Nick Bjugstad tally his 14th of the season, and Aleksander Barkov score his 27th of the year. The Panthers held a 3-0 lead before the Leafs stormed back in the 3rd period, but Florida was able to hold on to the lead to earn their 700th win as a franchise and franchise-record 99th point of the season. The Panthers also clinched home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Erik Gudbranson will miss Tuesday’s game after being sent back to Florida for testing as a result of a high hit on Monday by Colin Greening. It’s not yet clear whether he has a concussion, however he did already have one this season back in mid-February which forced him to miss 8 games.

The Canadiens last played on Saturday against the Panthers when Aleksander Barkov scored twice to fuel a 3rd-period comeback. The Panthers have won all 3 meetings between the two teams so far this season.
