Between The Lines

The Panthers and Islanders will head back to the BB&T Center for game 5 with the series tied at 2 after Florida won game 4 on Wednesday by a score of 2-1. The Panthers got the better of the chances in what was mostly a tight-checking game that ended up coming all the way down to the wire. The Islanders tied the game shortly after Teddy Purcell opened the scoring on the power play, however it was Alex Petrovic who gave the Panthers the lead late in the 3rd period with a nice head fake move to outwait the defender in front of him at the point.

After a defenseman reportedly took a puck up high during pre-game warm-ups, Greg McKegg was a late scratch for Jakub Kindl who ended up sitting on the bench for the entire game without playing at all. The Panthers ended up double-shifting Barkov and Bjugstad on the 3rd line with Teddy Purcell which had the Islanders guessing defensively all night long. Vincent Trocheck (ankle/leg) remains out of the lineup and could potentially be cleared for Friday’s game 5 although it’s not likely. Steven Kampfer (ankle) was cleared on Thursday and could play on Friday. For the Islanders, defenseman Ryan Pulock did not travel to Florida with the rest of the team and will miss the rest of the series with an undisclosed injury. Pulock was a big part of the Islanders successful power play and had a goal with the man-advantage in game 3,
