The Panthers announced today that they’ve made several front office changes including the promotion of Tom Rowe to the position of General Manager. The team hopes to achieve a more collaborative atmosphere when it comes to signings, trades, drafting, and other important day-to-day tasks, and it’s something they’ve already been working on over the past several months. The Panthers rang in the New Year by announcing that General Managers Dale Tallon has been signed to a 3-year contract extension. Tallon will team up with Tom Rowe whom the Panthers promoted from head coach of the team’s AHL affiliate Portland Pirates to associate GM, while Scott Allen will take over Rowe’s former position. I had the pleasure of being able to attend yet another exclusive Panthers-related event on Friday. I got to hear from a panel of executives including Co-Owners Vincent Viola and Doug Cifu, Chairman Peter Luukko, General Manager Dale Tallon, and NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, led by Broadcaster Steve Goldstein. I had the honor of attending a Panthers dinner last night and I was able to speak to Owners Vinnie Viola and Doug Cifu. I spoke to General Manager Dale Tallon and heard from Peter Luukko as well. I talked to Steve Goldstein about the future of the Panthers for a while and I was able to hear from character players like Shawn Thornton, Derek MacKenzie, and Roberto Luongo.
